A JOURNEY THROUGH NOKREK - NOKREK NATIONAL PARK

EGH Nokrek

A JOURNEY THROUGH NOKREK

One of India’s eighteen biosphere reserves, Nokrek is a treasure trove of citrus species, and home to the mother of all citrus species and an endangered species – the Citrus indica. Apart from this botanical treasure, Nokrek also includes the Nokrek National Park, certainly a delight for the adventure-thirsty folks out there. Our trekking experience takes you through these ancient jungle trails where you can soak in the flora and fauna. Bird-watching, wildlife spotting, and foraging are some of the activities.

Nokrek has many legends, including that of the Achik King- Abong Noga. If one is lucky, he might stumble onto the pile of logs he had stacked once upon a time – fossilized relics of this important Garo tale.

Apart from the treks, Nokrek offers relaxation and a glimpse into the agrarian lifestyle in a traditional homestay. Fresh tea and orange plantations are just some highlights at the Daribokgre resort. You also get to tuck into the famed Garo cuisine, rich with organic and forest-sourced ingredients. And the epicurean delights include this region’s liquid gold, Nokrek honey.
