Mulieh village, located about 30 kilometres from Jowai is popularly known for its production of Lakadong turmeric, an important turmeric species endemic to the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. With its curcumin content exceeding seven of these types of turmeric, it provides you with many health benefits. It helps fight cancer, and cough, reduces gastric juice and also provides you with many skin benefits. En route to Mulieh village, one can also learn the tradition and the process of production of Lakadong turmeric with a hands-on experience on how it is cultivated.

Know your host: Kong Trinity Saioo, is a well-known Lakadong turmeric producer who has been awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ for her leadership in turmeric farming. She is also an entrepreneur from Mulieh village, West Jaintia Hills District and a school teacher by profession. She has extensive knowledge about Lakadong Turmeric and has also helped inform nearby villages and communities about the various turmeric cultivation schemes.
