The Farmers’ Market January 2026 is a celebration of Meghalaya’s farmers and their finest local produce. Organised by 1917 iTEAMS under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, and supported by the Meghalaya Farmers’ Empowerment Commission, the market highlights the juiciest oranges, perfect pumpkins, and a wide range of seasonal farm products.
What to expect:
• Fresh Produce: Juicy oranges, pumpkins, and other seasonal farm harvests.
• Direct from Farmers: When farmers sell directly, more of the value stays with them.
• Unique Experience: No cafés or food trucks—just one live kitchen serving 10 seasonal dishes (5 orange-based and 5 pumpkin-based), cooked live by VDVK members trained at the Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong.
The event will be formally inaugurated at 10:30 AM by Shri Timothy D. Shira, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, with Shri P.S. Thangkhiew, IAS (Retd), Chairman, Meghalaya Farmers’ Empowerment Commission, as the Guest of Honour. The market will be held on Saturday, 24th January 2026, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Parking Lot, Directorate of Fisheries, opposite St. Edmund’s College, Shillong.
